| Sableye(Strategy written by PoisonX)Abilities: Keen EyeStallPranksterStats: HP: 50 Atk: 75 Def: 75 SpA: 65 SpD: 65 Spe: 50 Total: 380 Placed Tier: (OU) Tiers In Which Usability Is Covered In This Analysis: (OU) Type: Dark / GhostSableye, with those stats, in OU? You may be wondering why, but the answer is in its newly released ability, "Prankster". Prankster turns Sableye from a forgettable NU pokemon to possibly one of the best stalling pokemon in the entire metagame. Prankster boosts the speed of all non attacking moves to + 1, meaning it outspeeds everything that isn't a priority move. Since Sableye is immune to moves like Mach Punch, usually it doesn't have to worry about priority. This set even has the possibility of functioning in Ubers. While Sableye has always been one of my favorites, it upset me that I was never able to use him in competitive play bar NU. Now, it's his time to shine. OU Set #1: (Burn / Recover)Item: Leftovers Ability: Prankster EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SpD Nature: Bold ( + Defense, - Attack ) Moveset:- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Snarl / Shadow Ball / Power Gem
- Will O Wisp
Set Explanation:
This set can take entire teams down. Simply to use, burn any physical attackers using Will O Wisp, then Calm Mind and Recover when needed. Snarl is for when something tries to stall back when you need a solid damage move. It also is STAB but lacks in base power, but it always reduces the opponent's special attack by one when the opponent is hit. Alternatively, you could use Shadow Ball coming off as a strong STAB special attack with calm mind boosts, but it leaves you completely helpless against pokemon such as Blissey and Chansey who aren't affected by ghost type moves. As another option, Power Gem allows you to OHKO Volcarona after one or two Calm Mind boosts (usually it's easy to get at least three boosts up, and also easy to get six up as well). It also allows you to neutrally hit Heatran, who can't be burned and can fire back with a STAB Lava Plume.
Counters to Sableye (OU):
Counters: Heatran, Blissey and Chansey are the most surefire counters to Sableye, walling most attempts and proceeding to status Sableye and stall it out. Heatran must be wary of anything higher than a +2 boosted Power Gem though. If Will O Wisp misses, physical attacks can do a number on Sableye, however it can survive a Adamant nature (non banded) Scizor Bullet Punch with around 44% HP left and proceed to Will O Wisp it and Recover off the damage. Victini and Darmanatin can also OHKO Sableye with V-Create and Flare Blitz respectively while being immune to Will O Wisp. Victini should be wary of a boosted Snarl or Shadow Ball when switching in though. Also, anything with Taunt can shut down Sableye, so if you know something is going to Taunt, either switch out, or use Will O Wisp and switch to something you know will be able to deal with it.
