Hitmonchan is a beast. He has a wide array of physical type moves that allow him great coverage. He can be a bit tricky to use though because he is not the most sturdy of pokemon. Normally he is best utilized when being baton passed to.
I Punch Hard
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Iron Fist
Item: Expert Belt
EVS: 252Att/4Def/252Speed
Moves:
Mach Punch
Ice Punch
Fire Punch
Focus Punch/Bullet Punch/Thunder Punch
Ideally with this set you will be passed a little speed and attack but that isn't that crucial. I have swept many a team with just this one pokemon without any help from a baton pass. Mach Punch is a great stab move that also has priority. If you happen to hit something super effective it will take a beating. Ice Punch is for pesky dragons. They normally go down in one hit unless they are built to take some hits, which means it will take no more than three attacks to kill it. Fire Punch is for grass type pokemon and anything that the other attacks are not able to hit that well. The final attack is for you to choose. Focus Punch is Hitmonchan's strongest move but as you should know it is very hard to get off. You must have great prediction abilities or be behind a baton passed substitute to get it off. Bullet Punch is if you think you are going to need to take down a fast ghost or something else that Mach Punch isn't going to do that well against. Finally, Thunder Punch is for better coverage so you have something to hit water type pokemon with super effectively. All the above attacks are punches because of the ability Iron Fist. You can tweak the elemental punches if you would like but I have found fire and ice to be the best combination.
Counters: Moltres, anything flying that is fast really. Same for psychic. It can normally take a non super-effective physical attack.
I Counter
Nature: Impish
Ability: Inner Focus
Item:Focus Sash
EVS:
252Att/252Def/4Speed
Moves:
Counter
Mach Punch/Bullet Punch
Close Combat
Ice Punch
This is a counter set. Counter is to counter physical attackers. Focus sash guarantees that you get off atleast one attack. Mach Punch/Bullet Punch is for priority and if you choose Mach Punch you also get stab with it. Close Combat is to deal a lot of damage to opposing pokemon and if you are still at full health the decrease in defense could be useful. Finally Ice Punch is for dragon pokemon and better coverage. Inner Focus is to make sure a fake out pokemon doesn't ruin my plan and kill Hitmonchan before it can even attack. I have only used this set once and it was semi-effective. If you can find a good place for it in a team I am sure it would be really good.
Counters: Status effects do well at messing up this set. Special attackers can also be a problem for him.
