Seviper

Abilities:
Shed Skin
Infiltrator

Stats:

HP:73
Atk:100
Def:60
SpA:100
SpD:60
Spe:65

Total:458

Placed Tier: (NU)

Type: Poison

Seviper is my favourite pokemon therefore, I was bound and determined to create an effective set to make it not only usable but a valuable asset to my team. Not only in the NU tier but, all the way up to the OU and even uber tier as well. Given Seviper's low speed and even worse defensive attributes it is often overlooked and underestimated however, it does have nice offensive stats and decent HP. So without further ado I'd like to introduce you to my favourite Pokemon and what I believe to be by far it's most effective set for any and every tier.

Set #1: (Choice Scarf)

Item: Choice Scarf
Ability: Shed Skin
EVs: 252 Special Attack, 244 speed, 12 HP
Nature: Timid

- Switcheroo
- Flamethrower
- Sludge Bomb
- Final Gambit

Set Explanation: I'll start with the EV spread, timid nature + 244 Speed + Choice Scarf = A Speed stat of 373 thus out speeding max speed Alakazam, Dugtrio, Sceptile and Arceus by 1. The 252 Special Attack EV's to get the most out of Sludge Bomb and Flamethrower and the remainingg 12 to HP to make Final Gambit slightly more powerful. Final Gambit does damage equal to the amount of Hit Points you currently have but, causing the user to faint(290 damage at full health). You can however opt for 252 HP EV's giving Seviper 350 Hit Points to get the most out of Final Gambit(350 damage). I recommend investing in Special Attack for NU and HP for OU as you will find yourself using Final Gambit More often in the higher tiers. Shed Skin is definitely the way to go as far as Ability. Being able to absorb status ailments and shed them off is very nice. I often lead with Seviper countering the common wall leads with switcheroo and forcing a switch. Flamethrower is for taking down common steel types like Scizor, Forretress, Skarmory, Genesect, Escavalier. Sludge Bomb has a nice 30% chance of poison and STAB. Final Gambit is often used to 1HKO powerful pokemon that may otherwise pose a major threat to your team, it can also be used as a last resort or for ending the battle nicely when your opponent only has 1 Pokemon left >=). This set takes a little practise to get down pat in battle but, keeping in mind it is an unorthodox and tricky way of battling, it requires skill.

Seems interesting. How well has it worked out for you in OU?

It worked well as a lead in OU nobody sees it coming. I used it for screwing up walls and killing scizors and brelooms skarmorys etc, my team at the time seemed to be weak against latios, I recall final gambiting latios a lot. final gambiting dragonites' and gyarados' all the time, definitely saved my ass a lot. I don't play OU much though its predictable and boring
